Arlington County Approves New Mixed-Use Project in Ballston

The Arlington County Board today approved a major site plan amendment to permit development of a six-story apartment building with ground floor retail at 650 N. Glebe Road. The building will replace the Goodyear building and adjacent single-family house at the corner of North Glebe Road and North Carlin Springs Road, across from the Ballston Common Mall.

Arlington County Approves $8 Million for Second Phase of Fiber Optic Network Project

The Arlington County Board today approved an $8 million contract for Phase Two of its Fiber Optic Network Project. The three-phase project, approved by the Board in January 2011, will build the fiber optic network system that will eventually replace and upgrade the County’s aging communications infrastructure.

Arlington County Board Approves $1.46 Million for James Hunter Park

The Arlington County Board today approved a $1.46 million contract with Avon Corporation to extensively upgrade James Hunter Park in the Lyon Village neighborhood. The park, currently home to a canine community area, will be transformed to a multi-faceted urban park featuring a 1,200 sq. ft. plaza, open lawn, demonstration garden and community canine area.
